Kershaw is centrally located between the big cities of Charlotte, N.C. and Columbia, S.C. (each 1 Hr. away).We are also only 25 minutes from the towns of Lancaster and Camden.

 

Founded in 1888, Kershaw began as a lumber mill and railroad station.  By 1911 the town was a prosperous farming community with turpentine distelleries, gold mining, a cotton mill and an oil mill.

 

Today, Kershaw's historic district, mostly residential, includes a number of the most beautiful Southern homes in the region, as well as the town's first library, which originally served as the office of the lumber mill.
